IS THE CAMP EXPERIENCE RIGHT FOR YOU?

Large corporate groups often have little flexibility when it comes to the type of venue that can accommodate them. Built to house 40-300 people, camps are a unique solution to creating a customized offsite experience that pushes teams out of their comfort zone.

With the possibility of full buy-outs, camps are an opportunity for large groups to experience the exclusive feel of a private home but with the occupancy of a hotel, and all at a more reasonable price. This casual, intimate setting fosters team cohesiveness as individuals are at ease, connecting with nature, and spend the majority of their time in the company of fellow colleagues.

Camp venues can be the ideal location for various types of offsite experiences including:

  • 1-6 night retreats
  • Training weekends
  • Conferences
  • Activity-based offsites
  • Company family summer parties
  • Employee appreciation days

CAMPING STYLES

No two camps are the same and each has its own unique characteristics that make it stand out amongst the rest. With varying comfort levels, housing styles, and themes, teams can find the perfect camp that suits their specific needs.

Discover the different types of camp experiences below, and corporate-focused camps that have the Retreatify stamp of approval.

CLASSIC CAMP EXPERIENCE

Just like when you were a kid, classic camp venues offer the perfect balance of fun and practicality to meet your team’s demands. Featuring multiple cabins and lodges, these camps have plenty of space to accommodate large groups. The various activity spaces can also serve as the perfect spot to host unique meetings and gatherings.

Offering full-service retreat programs and pre-built packages, The Hollows Camp makes it easy for you to take advantage of their unique venue. The 87-acre site includes two private lakes, kilometres of hiking trails, an archery field, apple orchard, and outdoor octagon stage to hold games, activities and gatherings.

Just minutes from Rosseau, Ontario, Camp Ooch Muskoka is a modern and accessible site that can accommodate groups of up to 320 guests in their seven winterized lodges and four townhouse-style units. Their massive Gatt’s Lodge dining hall, multiple meeting and breakout spaces, and onsite activities ranging from high ropes to pottery, are guaranteed to create a memorable experience.

LUXURY GLAMPING

If your team wants to bask in mother nature’s beauty while still enjoying a high level of comfort, then luxury glamping is for you. Featuring private and shared suites, these venues blend camping with hotel-style accommodations for the best of both worlds.

Long Point Eco Adventures’ Wilderness Suites and Pods provide all the all the comforts of home with the sights and sounds of Turkey Point Marsh, a designated UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Along with facilitated activities and meetings, guests can also take advantage of the onsite microbrewery and Chef Shelli’s gourmet meals.

IMMERSED IN NATURE

The ultimate push out of your comfort zone, nature-focused camps encourage guests to embrace their surroundings with eco-cabin, yurt, and tent accommodations. Often located in secluded areas, these camps are technology-free with minimal electricity, forcing groups to focus on team building and experiences over meetings and work sessions.

A leader in transformational travel, Northern Edge Algonquin creates and hosts all-inclusive nature retreats for groups of up to 35 participants. A sanctuary from technology, teams can slip away for a few days of adventure, restoration, and rejuvenation. Sleep comfortably in eco-cabins, nourish yourself with organic, locally sourced foods, and participate in tailored experiences with Algonquin locals.

ACTIVITY-FOCUSED CAMPS

Built to include dozens of onsite experiences and large facilities, activity-focused camps remove the guesswork of how to fill your time. From lakeside basketball courts to full-sized gymnasiums, these venues take classic camp activities to the next level while also providing high-quality accommodations.

One of the longest-running basketball camps in Canada, Elite Camps Outdoor Leadership Centre is an unforgettable stay for corporate groups of up to 140 people. The 75-acre waterfront property in South Bruce Peninsula features 10 newly constructed, air-conditioned cabins, basketball courts overlooking the lake, on site catering, a full-size indoor gymnasium, and all the outdoor activities your team can dream of.

CAMP ACTIVITIES

The camp offsite experience is only limited by your imagination. With acres of property to use and explore, these spacious venues place the focus on the experience rather than the venue itself. When it comes to what you can do on the property, camps are typically flexible and act as a blank canvas for your ideas to come to life.

Not only can you bring in external experience providers, but camps are already equipped with dozens of on-site activities to take advantage of.

The most common activities featured are:

  • Kayaking
  • Canoeing
  • Archery

  • Ziplines
  • High Ropes
  • Rock wall

FOOD & DINING

Even though your accommodations may be on the casual side, it doesn’t mean your team has to have anything less than a 5-star dining experience.

Many camp venues can facilitate the unique styles and cuisines that elevate an offsite experience. Some have onsite caterers who are accustomed to cooking delicious meals for larger groups. Other venues allow you to bring in external food-providers, who would love to use the camp’s full-sized, state of the art kitchens.

Whatever your preferences are, camps make it easy to keep your group’s taste buds satisfied.

PRICING

Camp venue pricing is typically based on a per person, per day rate.

Fees also take into consideration any additional on-site personnel, food requirements, and activity services.

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS

Majority of the camps opening their doors to corporate groups have their own summer programming for kids, limiting rental availability to the shoulder season (September to June). Even though the summer is unavailable, camps are an ideal stay for winter retreats!

Depending on the style of camp venue, guests may find themselves sharing bedrooms with fellow attendees.

Camp venues feature communal bathrooms for multiple guests to share.

These expansive properties are often located in wooded areas with uneven ground and near open bodies of water, requiring an extra level of preparedness, responsibility, and safety precautions. You may want to consider alcohol permitted areas, limited swimming times, and other rules to ensure a safe event.
